The Aftermath
A pamphlet about the case titled A Brief Narrative of the Case and Trial of John Peter Zenger was written about Zenger's experience during the trial. Andrew Hamilton was honored in New York City and called a hero. When Hamilton left New York City, he was saluted by cannons. The term "Philadelphia Lawyer" was created about Hamilton. After the case people said "Only a Philadelphia lawyer could have done it!" A Philadelphia Lawyer is a crafty lawyer who will protect his client and find a way to win. Cosby died of tuberculosis one year after the verdict. Hamilton died in 1741, and Zenger in 1746.
